Lactation Cookies

Why should you try Yummy Mummy Organic Lactation Cookies?
  • Our nourishing cookies help in two ways - increase nutrients needed to produce milk & supply Fenugreek - a seed known to boost milk production. Oats, Brewer's Yeast, Flax Seeds and other organic ingredients mean the cookies are high in the essential nutrients such as Magnesium and B-Vitamins which your body uses to produce milk. The Lemon & Fenugreek icing is a delicious and powerful boost for your supply.
  • The cookies are high in healthy fats (including Omega 3's) that will pass through your milk to your baby ensuring the milk he or she drinks is more nutritious.
  • You might be struggling to find time to eat the 1,500 - 1,800 calories needed to produce sufficient milk. The cookies are a quick and healthy way to top up on calories (even when you have a sleeping baby in your arms).
  • Breastfeeding is challenging! You need and deserve nurturing during this period too. Yummy Mummy Cookies are a treat to help you take care of yourself too.
  • While Fenugreek is the only ingredient proven to boost milk production, it can be hard on your tummy if taken in the supplement form without food. Eating it as part of a cookie can make it easier on your stomach, and tastier too!
  • Each cookie contains around 1200 mg of Fenugreek (the equivalent of two supplement capsules). Many Lactation Consultants recommend a maximum daily dosage of around 6000 mg or 9 supplements. If you're sensitive to fenugreek, you may see results with just a cookie or two each day. If you need a stronger dosage, you can combine the cookies with additional supplements (just don't exceed the total recommended daily dosage from your lactation consultant).
  • Only Yummy Mummy Cookies are naturally balanced with 4 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and a host of mineral and vitamins - you will feel energized rather than exhausted from a blood sugar slump as you would with other cookies.

Making your own Lactation Cookies at home?
Lactation Cookie Recipes are all over the internet. Essentially they are modified chocolate chip cookie with oats, brewer's yeast and sometimes flax seeds.  Because of the white flour, white sugar and lack of essential minerals, they aren't much healthier than a standard cookie. The real power of these cookies is that once you've made them, you have a fast snack to help take in the extra calories and fat you need. Be sure to eat them after a healthful meal though to balance the impact of the sugar so you can try to avoid feeling tired a few minutes later (that's certainly not what you need when you have a little one to chase around!)

Typical Lactation Cookie Recipe
Here are the ingredients found in typical lactation cookies.  The ingredients you won't find here but are in Yummy Mummy Cookies include: pumpkin seeds, kelp, hemp seeds, sesame seeds, nettles, clover, peppermint, and poppyseeds just to name a few.
