Do all the cookies have fenugreek?

Fenugreek is one of the best and most well-known herbs for stimulating milk production. The Lemon Poppy Seed Lactation Cookies have the most fenugreek, as much as 1200 mg per cookie. The Dark Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Seed Lactation Cookies have a small amount of fenugreek and our Wheat-Free, Egg-Free Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies have no fenugreek, instead using blessed thistle with our other amazing ingredients to stimulate milk production and nourish the body.

I am buying 2 bags of cookies but want all 3 flavors. Is that possible?

Unfortunately we cannot mix flavors within one bag so you'll need to pick just 2 flavors if ordering 2 bags. We do mostly recommend the Lemon Poppy Seed and the Dark Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Seed flavors most unless you have any sensitivities to wheat, fenugreek or eggs, then we definitely recommend the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies as they are wheat-free, egg-free, fenugreek-free and dairy-free.

I'm buying Yummy Mummy Cookies as a gift. Any ideas?

What a fabulous idea! We recommend placing an order and let us know it's a gift in the message line when checking out. We will include a message from you and ship the cookies directly to the recipients house immediately or on the date you request.  If you're shopping for a baby shower, order cookies and have the lucky lady store them in her freezer. Don't forget the Let's Eat! A Book About Food for siblings available to order directly below the cookie choices. A most fantastic way to support new mothers.

What flavor should I try?

While we think all the flavors are phenomenal, each cookie has slightly different properties. If you are a new mom trying to establish a strong milk supply or are returning to work, we recommend eating the Lemon Poppy Seed Lactation Cookiesbecause they have extra fenugreek to give the strongest boost to milk production in addition to all of our highly nutritional ingredients.  Anyone looking for a classic cookie with a healthy twist, the Chocolate Chip Lactation Cookie is great because of its added nutritional benefits from our powerhouse ingredients not found in any other cookies! Want a more dense, filling treat? Opt for the wheat-free and egg-free Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies. Whichever flavor, you've made the right choice!

The lactation cookies have unusual ingredients like Pumpkin Puree and Hemp Seeds. So how do they taste?

The cookies are delicious. Seriously, we mean really delicious. We've carefully selected the ingredients to pack the greatest nutritional punch while remaining moist, sweet and completely free of any unnatural flavor (if you've eaten a nutrition bar you've experienced that chalky vitamin supplement taste). The Lemon Poppy Seed Lactation Cookie has a sweet frosting with a zing and crunch you'll love. And who can resist the endorphin releasing power of high-quality chocolate in our other flavors?  So while they're a healthy snack option for you, we haven't forgotten that you also just want a really great cookie.

Will eating the cookies start lactation?

Our Lactation Cookies have ingredients which support and can increase milk production, but they will not spontaneously produce lactation.  Men and and children, fear not!  You can eat them and your body will thank you for the healthy treat.

I'm pregnant.  Can I safely eat these cookies?

As a rule, we recommend speaking to your healthcare provider as certain people can be more sensitive than others.  In general though, it is considered safe to consume 2-3 of the Oatmeal chip flavor and 1-2 of the lemon flavor per day while pregnant.  Often women find an increase with just one cookie a day.  While the fenugreek is a component of the cookies in order to boost milk, it is less intense than supplement form as it is in the whole food form--similar to eating many common Indian foods.

Why are the lactation cookies dairy free?  Isn't milk good for me?

While there are a variety of reasons women might choose to avoid dairy, it can be essential to avoid it while nursing. This is because dairy is a common food irritant for many babies.  If your baby has colic, frequent reflux or excessive gas, talk to a nutritionist or naturopathic physician to help pinpoint which foods you are eating which could be causing this problem.  Yummy Mummy Cookies do not have many of these common causes so that you can safely enjoy without the risk!

Will the lactation cookies help me lose the baby weight?

When you have the world's best cookie at home or in your diaper bag, you'll have no problem ignoring the less-healthy options you see all around you. They satisfy your sweet tooth without causing your blood sugar to spike which is associated to increased cravings and binging. The fat in the cookies comes primarily from wholesome seeds and virgin coconut oil which metabolizes differently in your body than animal fats do and is rich in essential fatty acids. So, if you regularly reach for sugary foods high in unhealthy fats (and who can blame a new mom for that--sleep deprivation causes us to crave fat, salt and sugar) then yes, replacing those choices with our healthier version can help you get back into your skinny jeans more quickly. Don't forget, the more you breastfeed too, the quicker and safer you get back to a healthy weight as well.  It's a win-win!

How do the cookies support lactation?

When breastfeeding, your body is doing its best to produce milk for your baby. However, if you're deficient in calories and the nutrients (such as magnesium, calcium, iron or B-vitamins) your body requires to carry out this incredible process, it may not be able to produce quite as much milk as you'd like. The cookies provide a quick, healthy and satisfying way to top up these nutrients.

Additionally, some foods (called galactagogues) are known to increase milk supply. Oats, Brewer's Yeast, Nettles and Fenugreek are the main galactagogues included in Yummy Mummy Lactation Cookies.

Stress and dehydration can hinder your production too.  For an additional boost to milk production, try to relax while enjoying your cookie with a glass of water or a cup of tea.  This is your time as much as it is for your baby.  Enjoy.

Do you ship internationally?

Unfortunately the prices for shipping have increased dramatically. As such we no longer offer standard international shipping. That said, we'd be happy to let you know what the additional fees for processing and custom forms would be if you would like to set up an order.  On average, it is an additional $25 for shipping per order and takes an extra 12 days shipping time due to customs.

Are the lactation cookies gluten free?

While we have wheat-free, dairy free, egg-free, nut free and soy free, we cannot guarantee that they will be gluten-free as we bake in a facility that uses wheat.

Can I buy these in a store?

We currently ship to Jubilee Naturals in Enumclaw, Wa and LaConner, Wa only. If you are a Washington state resident you can get a local shipping discount by writing "Local Shipping" in the message and we will refund the extra charges after it has processed.

I need more help with my milk production. What should I do?

Contacting a Lactation Specialist, OB/GYN or Midwife can be helpful. Many hospitals now have free helplines for new parents and La Leche Leauge (www.llli.org) operates helplines in some areas. In the meantime, try to ensure you're nursing and/or pumping frequently (typically every 2-4 hours), drinking plenty of water and eating nutritious foods regularly.
